What do I think about this?

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words.

And cartoonists get lots of chicks, I’m told.

Update: The Puppy Blender is watching this more closely than I am.

News from the Future 1

There are allegations that my future great-great-great-grandson has a time machine and is sending me news snippets. In actuality, I am making this up, but it could be real.

Palestinian Minister condemns Israeli strike
GAZA -
“If Israel is able to take the moral high ground and refrain from attacking Palestinians even if we fail to restrain our more enthusiastic brothers from launching a few rockets, we will talk about a truce,” stated Mohammed Mohammed bin Abdullah the Deputy Minister of Negotiations for the Palestinian Authority, after a press conference held in front of his private pile of rubble in Gaza.

Much Ado About Numerals

Filed under: Uncategorized — georgeguy @ 3:19 am

Hat tip to LGF and the LGF commentariat
A Google News search on the phrase “grim milestone” reveals two pages of links to news articles by backwards superstitious numerologists who think a multiple appearance, in casualty statistics, of the digit infamously known in America as “Zero”, and “naught” to the limeys, signifies some kind of ill omen or something.

Considering that soldiers are dying in numbers slightly too large to raise a fuss over every hundred, they have to settle for the thousands. And half-thousands, so it seems. Of course, this is a quarter of ten thousand we’re talking about, which might be what is making this number special. We are talking of course, about the number 2,500, for you math-impaired folks out there. That is how many US soldiers have died in Iraq since the invasion of 2003.

Of course, that’s in our standard decimal number system.
In dodecimal, it would be 1544.
In hexadecimal, it would be 9C4.
In octal, it would be 4704.
In binary, it would be 100111000100.

How culturally insensitive it is to only make note of the round numbers in base-10 notation. Who paid attention when 1024 soldiers had died? 2048?

THEY’RE NUMBERS. 2500 is no more worse than 2499 than 2344 is worse than 2343.

When the toll reaches 3,000, do another news search for “grim milestone”, and punch a journalist one time for every hit that search receives. I’m not being pessimistic. Whether it takes 6 months or 6 years for it to reach 3,000, somebody will be keeping count and the media will make a fuss about it.

A Storm is Brewing.

And by that I mean, the Mr. Coffee is full of water, loaded with a filter full of 1/4 cup of ground hurricane, and the switch is on.

I am an attention starved little dick.

Aaron’s rantblog is currently down for the time being, because Muslim supremacists have been attacking the host of that website and he needs to get some new security thingies squared away before relaunching. At least that’s my understanding of it.

So, he made the Mohamsterdance. And someone’s been posting under the name “Muslim community” (or sometimes “Mulsim community”) insisting that all the crusaders are going to hell. Me, I’m crazy. I’m scared to death of actual bees, wasps, hornets, and their ilk. And yet I seem to think nothing of making an inflammatory statement against a religion of people with a demonstrated willingness to slaughter their critics.

Here are snippets from the comments section.

There will be many false prophets. By their fruits you shall know them.

By that criteria, I’m probably a better prophet than Muhammed.

Muslim community,
I’m not comparing myself to Mohammed. I would dishonor my whole family to suggest I was in any way similar to that pedophiliac pirate. Mohammed doesn’t compare to me.

I have never molested children, whereas Mohammed married one and presumably molested her on a daily basis.
I have never killed any innocent human being, and definitely not whole towns and villages comprised largely of innocents, whereas this was Mohammed’s bread and butter.
I have never ordered a man to kill his own father. Mohammed did this on at least one occasion that I know of.
I have never raped anyone. Mohammed would rape anyone.
I love Jews, generally speaking. Mohammed slaughtered them.
I’m sure there are other wicked acts that I probably haven’t committed, that Mohammed did. But five points is enough to say that I am in a whole other league from Mohammed.
