The Age of Obama is upon us

Filed under: Uncategorized — georgeguy @ 2:38 pm

Today, Barack H. Obama is now, after months of premature pretentions,  the President of the United States for real.

The world will now suddenly like us, the Gazans will shut down their mad relentless bloodthirsty struggle and turn to peaceful and industrious ways of life.   Russia and China will warm up to us again, and the violent sermons coming from all corners of the Islamosphere will suddenly evaporate.

Crime rates will plummet as the rougher fringe of our society is filled with hope of honest employment in the 600,000 new government jobs to be created, and everyone will be wealthier as we print a trillion dollars’ worth of new money  and set about fixing the prices of thousands of goods and services.

All right, this is a crappy fairy tale that I’m going to abort like a three-headed fetus.

The truth is that when this man opens his mouth, all the productive people of the world tend to get apprehensive, because it’s the successful, productive people who are going to have to pay for whatever Barack H. Obama has cooking, and he has promised that it is going to be expensive.    And the sign of the nation’s apprehension can be read on any reasonably full-featured finance website.   Just as the stock market took a  plunge in the days after the November 6 election in 2008, just as large as the October plunge, the people who make their lives’ business out of figuring out where to put money are once again dreading the future.   The Dow Jones Industrial Average is, at 1:37 pm today, down 2.28% from yesterday.  Let’s see where it goes tomorrow.
Congratulations America.  No matter what happens in the next 4 years, remember that you asked for it.
