The Institute of Legitimate Wisdom Prize Foundation is about recognizing that which is not adequately rewarded. For achievements in science the Nobel Prize is well enough to leave alone. However, the ILW feels that Peace is definitely in need of some competition, just because the criteria the Nobel Foundation uses appears to be utter shit, if people like Yasser Arafat can get one. In addition the ILW will offer prizes for Violence and Grandiosity.
The cash award for any Institute of Legitimate Wisdom Prize is presently $0. However, any future increase to the award amount shall be applied retroactively to all living prize winners.
The Institute of Legitimate Wisdom Prize for Peace is for individuals or groups making distinguished achievements in world peace. This is much better achieved through active cultivation of productive relationships between two traditionally hostile parties, rather than the silly notion that simple disarmament and troop reduction will somehow make people feel so much better about each other.

The Institute of Legitimate Wisdom Prize for Violence is for individuals or groups making distinguished achievements in violence— more specifically, violence in defense of human rights from the smallest to the largest scales.

The Institute of Legitimate Wisdom Prize for Grandiosity is for individuals or groups making distinguished achievements in vision and ambition. Simply being a pathological narcissist with eyes on the White House will not be enough. You must have perspective and humility, and never be so self-absorbed as to be incapable of enduring mockery, even as you soar to new heights of self-parody and cause some people to believe you might be a delusional megalomaniac. To win this prize you must demonstrate this character and issue some sort of proposal for something of ambitious magnitude but can be proved to be entirely technologically possible and can be argued to have an articulable benefit to humankind.
